European Molecular Biology Laboratory (ELIXIR)

Germany
ELIXIR is a research infrastructure that unites Europe’s leading life science organisations in managing and safeguarding the increasing volume of data being generated by publicly funded research. It coordinates, integrates and sustains bioinformatics resources across its member states and enables users in academia and industry to access services that are vital for their research.

ELIXIR will contribute a domain-specific case-study in the life sciences, specifically in relation to Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs) which use its resources either as business models and/or for creating added-value products and services. ELIXIR will also contribute to the project’s long-term impact by embedding outputs and outcomes in its operations across its country membership.

Role in the project

ELIXIR is leading the bioinformatics case study: innovation from open research resources and is also key in the dissemination and exploitation of PathOS activities via its vast infrastructure.
